Football facts: True or false quiz

A new season of the Premier League starts this weekend, so it's become something of a tradition on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog to start the new season with a football themed blog post.

Football brings happiness to millions.
That's a fact!
This week is no different as I feature a collection of football themed facts. All you have to do is guess which of the 'facts' are true, and which are entirely made up.

Let's start things off with an easy one which I'm sure should be obvious to everyone.

1) Only five teams have ever won the English top league title three seasons in a row. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and of course ... Huddersfield Town!

True or false?

2) If Sweden were playing Denmark the abbreviated scorecard in the top left corner of the TV screen would say:

SWE - DEN

...and the unused letters would be DEN-MARK!

True or false?

10 funny quiz show answers (part 12)

I'm not particularly a fan of quiz shows, but I do enjoy it when the contestants give silly answers.

"Cruise, Cruise, wherefore art thou Cruise?"
Thankfully, there have been many foolish quiz show answers over the years*, so here's another batch of amusing answers from quiz show contestants who forgot to put their brain into gear before answering the questions.

* As you probably guessed by the fact that this is part 12.

1) "Which of Posh and Beckham's sons shares his name with a Shakespeare character?"
"Cruise."

From the famous play Cruise and Juliet, presumably.

2) "Name a reason why a woman might marry an ugly man."
"Because she's ugly too."

I thought they say that opposites attract?

Star Wars pants game quiz (part 3)

"These aren't the pants you're looking for."

Editor's note: "Charles, didn't you use this same photo last time?"
Charles: "Shush! It was a few years ago now,
so I'm hoping no-one will remember."
A silly game which I like to play from time to time is the Star Wars Pants Game. For the benefit of anyone who doesn't know what that is, you simply take a Star Wars quote and replace one random word with the word 'pants'. People then have to guess what the original quote was.

To test out your Star Wars knowledge, have a read of the following pants themed quotes, then see if you can work out what the real quote is.

1) "You were dreaming about your pants earlier, weren't you?"

...Padme to Anakin

a) Mother
b) Contract for the next movie.
c) Massacre of the tusken raiders.

Misleading thumbnails

This week's blog post is based on a theme which no doubt readers will have come across on many occasions. It's a quiz based on misleading thumbnails!

A clue to the theme of this week's blog post.
In fact I would imagine you've probably read so many quizzes about misleading thumbnails that you're probably quite sick of them by now. However, if by any chance you aren't yet sick of misleading thumbnail quizzes yet, then you're in luck! Because there's another such quiz below.

All you have to do is take a look at the thumbnails below and guess whether the description is true or false. If you think it's false, you can also earn an extra bonus point if you can work out what the photo really is.

And there's no cheating by zooming in! Remember, the FBI are secretly monitoring everything you do, so they'll be able to tell if you're cheating.

Anyway, without further ado, let's get straight on with the quiz.

1) Scary spider

Anyone of a squeamish disposition should look away now! That's because the first thumbnail is a photo of a scary spider! I'm no arachnologist, so I'm not sure what type of spider it is exactly, but whatever variety it is, it certainly looks deadly!

But is it really a scary spider, or could it perhaps just be a deceptively misleading thumbnail?

True or false?

Guess the band or song

Sadly for fans of music, the Grammy Awards take place tomorrow, an event where fake talentless sell-outs all give themseves a big undeserved pat on the back.

However, although I'm not a fan of the Grammys, it does nevertheless provide the perfect excuse to feature a cryptic music quiz on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog!

Take a look at the following visual clues and see if you can guess the name of the band or song that the picture is based on.

Disclaimer: All of the bands and songs are from decades gone by, so if you're a young person then you may need to ask an old person for some help with some of the clues.

1) 80s band

To start things off, this first photo is a clue to a rock band from Sheffield who were popular in the 80s.

Editor: "What?"
Charles: "I said, 'This first photo is a clue to a rock band from Sheffield who were popular in the 80s."

Bitcoin true or false quiz

Bitcoin was first launched almost 16 years ago, on 12 January 2009, so to celebrate its anniversary, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features a true or false quiz based on the theme of bitcoin. Some of the followingsilliness.

See if you can guess which is which...

'Bit' coin.
1) Only 21 million bitcoin can ever be produced.

True or false?

2) The image to the right shows what a bitcoin looks like.

True or false?

3) Bitcoin was invented by Bob Bitcoin.

Guess the weird headline quiz

I've featured weird headlines before on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, and I've also featured quizzes. This week, however, I combine the two with a quiz about weird headlines.

For each question, I've removed a word (or words) from the headline, and you have to guess what the missing word (or words) is (or are). To give you a helping hand, each question is multiple choice, so you have four possible answers to choose from. And remember, each headline is weird, so the correct answer may not be what you expect.

"What do you call a yellow bird with a haircut who likes James Bond?"
"A shorn canary."
Please note, to make things trickier I have used a random number of stars for each censored word. (If the number of stars corresponded to the number of missing letters, you would be able to cheat and work out the correct answers!)

1) To start things off, here's a headline that will appeal to movie lovers.

"The name is Bond, James ****."

A) Bond
B) 007
C) The Cat
D) Rodriguez

10 funny quiz show answers (part 11)

Contestants on TV quiz shows can win a lot of prizes ... but only if they don't give silly answers!

Thankfully, that applies to lots of contestants, as evidenced by the fact that this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features its eleventh round up of funny quiz show answers.

Nervous reader: "Aargh!"
Charles Fudgemuffin: "I did warn you."
However, as a warning for the first question, those of a nervous disposition should look away now...

1) "Name something that makes you scream."
"A squirrel."

2) Be very careful if you live near to this next contestant...

Les Dennis: "Other than crime, name something associated with Inspector Morse."
Contestant: "Murder."
Les Dennis: "So you don't see murder as a crime?"

Silly multiple choice quiz (part 2)

Let's starts this week's blog post with a multiple choice question:

Can you tell me what national day it is today?"

A) National Multiple Choice Day
B) National Fudgemuffin Day
C) National Heimlich Maneuver Day
D) No, I can't.

The correct answer was C. However, if you didn't know the answer, then D was also technically correct.

An image created by AI.
However, even though today is National Heimlich Maneuver Day, and even though National Mutiple Choice Day isn't even a real thing, I'm nevertheless feeling in a rebelious mood! So for this week's blog post I've decided to feature another silly multiple choice quiz featuring a selection of random silly questions!

1) Artificial 'intelligence'

First up, take a look at this image pictured to the right which I created using AI. Can you guess what the prompt was that I used to create the image?

A) Hot air balloon floating over the mountains.
B) Beautiful waterfall surrounded by flowers.
C) Colourful scene from nature with flowers in the foreground.
D) Clever idiot.

Cool foreign words (part 2)

I've featured a 'cool foreign words' true or false quiz before on the Charles Fudfemuffin blog, but there are so many cool foreign words that I decided to create a follow up quiz!

Once again, take a look at the following eight words from eight different languages, and see if you can work out whether the alleged foreign words are real, or whether I've just made them up...

Iceland...

I don't have a photo of a hedgehog rat (because they
don't exist), so here's a photo of a hedgehog dog instead.

Editor's note: "Charles, hedgehog dogs don't exist either."
Charles: "Well clearly they must, otherwise how would I get the photo?"

1) Hedgehog = Spiky rat

In Iceland they apparently don't have a very high opinion of hedgehogs, because the Icelandic word for hedgehog is 'skitugrotta' which literally translates as spiky rat! I can obviously see where the spiky comes from, but in my opinion hedgehogs are far too nice to be compared with rats.

Fake headlines quiz

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog puts your detective skills to the test with a multiple choice quiz on the theme of fake headlines. Each multiple choice category features four headlines based on a similar theme, but only three of the headlines are real headlines taken from actual news websites.

Take a look at the following categories and see if you can spot which are the fake headlines:

Crime:

To start things off, this first batch of headlines are all based on the unfortunately common news theme of crime.

"Money well spent!"
A) "A man tried to rob a bank after paying $500 to a wizard to make him invisible."

On first hearing this story, my reaction was, "There's no way that can possibly be true." However, before making your decision, I should add that the gullible dude lived in Iran where ridiculous superstitions are apparently more commonly believed than in the West.*

* With the exception of ****** ******* and ******* ******* obviously.

B) "Pub quiz cheats to face prison sentences of up to 6 years if Labour win the next general election, Keith Starmer announces."

With all the increasing real crimes in modern day Britain, it does seem a little bizarre to go after pub quiz cheats.

C) "'Everyone makes mistakes' says teen who karate-kicked 74 year old man into River Mersey."

I wonder if he'd be quite so relaxed if the judge 'mistakenly' gave him a fifty year prison sentence.

D) "A prisoner who briefly died argues that he's served his life sentence."

This sounds like a silly joke headline that someone might make up, but incredibly, the prisoner's case actually went to the Court Of Appeals in Iowa!

Which headline is fake?

Real words or fake? (part 3)

I often like to feature true or false quizzes on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, and something else that features frequently on the blog is words. In fact, every blog post I've ever published has included lots of words!

Strawberries get a thumbs up from me.
Not when they commit a robbery, though.
So this week, I've decided to combine the two, and feature a true or false quiz about words!

Take a look at the following words and try to work out whether they're real words, or whether they're fictitious made up creations...

1) Strobbery

A strobbery is a robbery committed by a strawberry.

A 'fruit and veg' based higher or lower quiz

In one of my upcoming books which I'm currently writing, one of the characters likes to stay healthy by exercising regularly and growing his own food.*

* More things happen that just that, though. He doesn't spend the entire book just gardening and exercising, obviously. That would be a boring book! Don't worry, there are other more radical plot devepements as well, such as brain transplants and vengeful motivations.

Water melon.
The topic of the first question in this week's quiz.
I often like to use themes from my books as inspiration for blog posts, and this week is no different, as this week's blog post is a true or false quiz for anyone who similarly likes to grow their own fruit and veg.

1) Water content

As you'd expect, water melon contains a lot of water (the clue is in the name), and in fact is made up of 92% water! However, it's not the only fruit and veg which is high in water content. Iceberg lettuce is another food containing a high percentage of water.

But how much water exactly? Does iceberg lettuce contain a higher or lower water percentage than water melon?

Higher or lower?

Photoshopped or real? (part 2)

It's been quite some time since I last featured a 'photoshopped or real' post on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog. That means it's time once again for readers to dust off their detective skills, take a look at the following photos and decide whether they're genuine original photos, or whether they've been embellished with a touch of photoshop skills.

1) Abraham Lincoln

First off, here's a rare selfie of Abraham Lincoln.

I know you're probably thinking, 'That's definitely photoshopped!'.

But here's the thing. It can't be, because photoshop hadn't even been invented back then!

Photoshopped or real?

Random multiple choice quiz

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features a random multiple choice quiz. However, whereas most multiple choice quizzes serve a serious purpose, such as a survey or a test, this multiple choice quiz consists purely of random silly questions which my easily amused brain found amusing!

Take a look at the following questions, and see how many you can guess correctly. Or maybe you're really clever and you don't need to guess!

1) Lobster woman

To start things off, here's a photo of a woman on a boat, but what is she doing?

Lobster woman.

A) Using her super powers to summon a lobster out of the sea into the boat.
B) Controlling a rather basic glove puppet to amuse a flying lobster.
C) Using sign language to inform the lobster of the latest football news.
D) Throwing a lobster back into the sea.

10 funny quiz show answers (part 10)

I don't watch a lot of quiz shows, but I do enjoy it when quiz show contestants give silly answers! With that in mind, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features another round up of funny quiz show answers.

Merry Wednesday!
To start things off, here's an amusing answer to a question from Tipping Point...

1) "On what date is Christmas Day traditionally celebrated each year?"
"Wednesday."

2) "Name an animal used as a form of transport."
"A turtle."

3) "Name a game played in the dark."
"Charades."

The Quiz Master

Regular readers of the Charles Fudgemuffin blog may have noticed that whenever I publish a new book or short story I generally like to promote it with a blog post, and this week is no different! My latest book 'The Quiz Master' was released this week, so in keeping with tradition, here's a brief summary of the plot:

The Quiz Master.
Available for kindle from Amazon.
"When the Deep Space Genesis agency discover the first potentially inhabitable exoplanet 'Nova Satus III', they plan to transport ten convicted criminals to that planet to use as metaphoric 'canaries in a coal mine', in order to test the suitability, and safety, of the planet's surface for human life.

However, even before the 'canaries' have barely started their journey, a mysterious hacker known only as 'The Quiz Master' takes control of the ship, and puts the canaries through a sick and twisted 'Last Man Standing' elimination game that will leave nine of the canaries dead, and only one survivor.

Who is this mysterious Quiz Master, and what are his motivations? And which of the ten contestants will survive?"

- - - - - - - - - -

As regular readers of the Charles Fudgemuffin blog may also have noticed, I occasionally like to feature quizzes on the blog. However, whereas the quizzes on my blog are generally light-hearted and sometimes a little bit silly, the quizzes, situations, and tests that the 'contestants' face are somewhat more unsettling, and of course the stakes are a lot higher!

To give you an idea of some of the questions, dilemmas and tasks that the contestants face to determine who is 'eliminated', one of the rounds that the Quiz Master puts them through is called Moral Dilemmas. In this round, the contestants are faced with numerous hypothetical moral dilemmas, one of which is as follows:

Emoji quiz (part 3)

It's becoming kind of a tradition on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog to feature an emoji quiz every year for World Emoji Day, and this year is no different!

This year the categories are movies, websites, bands, and books. There's also a bonus point up for grabs if you can guess why July 17th was chosen as the day to celebrate World Emoji Day. (Here's a clue... 📅)

Category 1: Movies

To start things off, the movie category includes some classic movies. A not-so-classic movie also made the list.

Here's a clue...
It's not Silence Of The Sheep.
1) 🐍🐍✈️

2) 🗡️🏃‍♂️

3) (🧭😩)🌌

4) 🤐🐑🐑

5) 😇😈👹

Funny horse names: A true or false quiz

It's the Grand National this weekend, which for the benefit of any readers who aren't from England, is the biggest horse race in England. I'm not a great fan of horse racing, but I do appreciate the amusing names that some owners have given their horses.

"Ha, ha, ha! You're called what?"
So with that in mind this week's blog post is a horse themed true or false quiz. Take a look at the following amusing horse names and see if you can guess whether they're real horses, or whether they're just silly names which I've made up!

1) Windsorlot

You would expect a horse named Windsorlot to win a lot, but sadly Windsorlot has failed to win any of its last 15 races.1 Perhaps it should be renamed Losesalot.

True or false?

Cool website quizzes and tests

Several years ago, I wrote about the annoying quizzes which would pop up at the time in your facebook feed. The type which would tell you which Game Of Thrones character your friend was most like, which actor would play them in a movie of their life, or which industrial universal joint they were most like.

However, not all quizzes on the internet are annoying, and some of them can in fact be quite interesting. So this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at a variety of quizzes, tests, and other data themed websites found on the web.

1) The 100 most common English words

Here are three clues, and also a red herring.
Can you guess which is which?
This is an interesting quiz where you have to guess the 100 most commonly used words in the English language. It starts off really easy as you go through most of the obvious common words, but as the clock ticks down it gradually gets more tricky as you try to think of the remaning words.

I guessed 72 of the 100 most common English words, but then at the end when it shows you the full list my reaction was, "How did I not get those!?" There aren't really any surprises in the list, but I suspect most people will probably miss quite a few really obvious words.

You can take the test at the link below:
