Funny signs (part 4)

It's been a few years since I last took a look at silly signs on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, but lovers of signs can finally rejoice, as this week's blog post features another long overdue round-up of funny signs.

1) Hot dog sign

Here's a brilliant offer at Ikea. However, before you get too excited, there is a catch...

"Not actual size."

Credit: imgflip

Not actual size? Did that really need to be clarified? You've got a massive fifteen foot banner hanging from the ceiling, and you felt the need to point out that the hot dog wasn't actually that big?

To be fair though, $0.50 is still an excellent offer, even if the actual hot dog isn't quite as big as some customers were apparently expecting.

Lost in translation

When I was younger, I spent a couple of months travelling around Japan, and I remember a bowling alley in Kyoto had a sign which read, "Let's knock down all the pins and get hot communication!" I'm not sure what it meant, but I'm pretty sure the original meaning was lost in translation.

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at more signs from around the world where the 'Engrish' version has been lost in translation.

1) Height discrimination

It seems a bit harsh to blame short people as their excuse for closing.

"Bah! Those pesky short people!"

"Sorry we are closed today due to short people."

Funny supermarket photos (part 3)

If our incompetent Western governments continue the way they are going, doing all they can to disrupt the food supply chain, then in a few months' time we may well have food shortages, and our supermarkets may have empty shelves.

So, while we still can, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog pays another visit to the supermarket!

1) Back to school

Presumably, this first supermarket display must be aimed at schools based in London or Chicago?

"Back to school."

Funny signs (part 3)

It's been quite some time since the last batch of funny signs featured on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, so here are a few more...

1) Funerals or potatoes

To start things off, here's a sign from a company offering a strange combination of services...

"For funerals or potatoes please come to side door."

Husband: "I'm just off to Mick's funeral."
Wife: "Get some potatoes while you're there."

Funny supermarket photos (part 2)

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog pays another visit to the supermarket as we take a look at various supermarket signs and labels...

1) False advertising?

I don't know what type of maths the makers of this fruit juice used, but it's certainly different from the type of maths I learned when I was at school.

Dubious claims from this fruit juice maker.

"100% juice" ... contains 27% juice. Huh!?

Funny supermarket photos

This week's blog post features a selection of unusual signs, labels and general products from the supermarket...

1) Harmless coconut water

I can't help wondering, why do they feel the need to specify 'harmless'? What other varieties is it available in?

'Harmless' coconut water.

Funny signs (part 2)

It's time for another collection of amusing signs, starting with a sign found in the window of a very ambiguously named shop...

1) Ambiguous shop name

Hmm, I wonder what this shop serves...

Burritos & Tacos
Now serving: Burritos & Tacos

I'm glad they added the 'Now Serving: Burritos & Tacos' sign clarifying what they serve, as the vague ambiguous name of the shop left me unsure.

Funny signs

From time to time I feature funny signs on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, so here's another selection, starting with a sign which carries an important message...

1) "It's never too late to learn to read."

I can't help wondering, who is this sign intended for?

'Guess the sign' quiz

Signposts are a part of everyday life. They're also quite boring, so you may be wondering why I've decided to have a quiz on them!

Well, although the majority of signs are indeed boring, the signs featured in this week's quiz all appealed to my daft sense of humour.

The text from each of the following signposts has been deleted, so see if you can guess what each sign originally said...

1) African Sign

This first sign is an amusing sign from Africa.  I've erased the text, but bearing in mind the antelope silhouette, can you guess what the sign originally said?

Yes, that's right!  As you've probably guessed the sign says...

Even more signs from around the world

Crocodiles, unnecessary epithets and draconian punishments.

Following on from my previous posts entitled ‘Signs from around the world’ and ‘More signs from around the world,’ I’ve now collected together even more photos of signs from around the world. After much thought I've decided to call this post ‘Even More Signs From Around The World.’

1) God loves everyone. Even solicitors!

The first photo is a religiously themed photo which demonstrates that apparently God’s love knows no limits.

God loves everybody. Even solicitors, apparently.

More signs from around the world

Or to provide a more accurate description…  'More signs, menus, t-shirts and ice creams from around the world'.

Following on from my previous post entitled, ‘Signs From Around The World,’ I’ve now collected together some more photos of signs from around the world. After much thought I decided to call this post, ‘More Signs From Around The World’.

1) Childish translations

Let’s start things off with a very childish photo of a sign in Mallorca Airport.

Childish sign at Mallorca Airport.

I think it was a restaurant, but after reading the sign I suddenly wasn’t very hungry.

Signs from around the world

A few photos from my travels.

I’m a big fan of travelling and therefore every winter for the last ten years I’ve gone backpacking around the world. On my travels I’ve encountered a few signs which have caught my attention and so I thought I would post photos of a few of them on my blog.

1) An undercover operation

The first photo is a photo I took while in Krakow a few years ago and it was taken outside the Secret Service Headquarters, handily signposted to ensure people can easily find it.

The Secret Service Headquarters in Krakow, a very undercover operation.

I have to say, maybe I’m missing something but it didn’t really appear to be that secret.
