So with that in mind, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog highlights a number of examples of AI acting in a rather foolish manner.
1) Hidden idiot
Here's an artistic example to start things off. As you can see, somone asked AI to make a 'Where's Waldo' picture, and this is the image that AI came up with...

"Have fun trying to spot the character!"
Hmm, that's a tricky one. I wonder where he could be. Has anyone managed to spot him?
2) Novel idiot
I was recently writing a murder mystery novel* where one of the characters leaves clues as to who the actual murderer is via his bookcase. For one of the clues I needed a book that had the word 'murder' in its title, so I therefore asked AI to come up a few suggestions. This was its reply...
As you can see, AI's first suggestion for a novel with the word 'murder' in the title was 'The Big Sleep' by Raymond Chandler.
Well, at least it's done a better job of hiding the word 'murder' than it did of hiding Waldo!
* The book is called 'The ABC Murders' and I've got quite a backlog of new books ready to publish at the moment, so it'll probably be around eighteen months or so before it finally gets published.
3) Landmark idiot
Here's the result when someone asked AI to create the 'most German image ever'.
At first glance it appears that AI has done a very good job. However, if you look closely, in the top left hand corner you may spot one tiny mistake...

Ah, yes! Big Ben! That famous German landmark!
4) Alphabetical idiot
When it comes to geography, it's not just Germany where AI needs to improve, as you can see by this next example where someone asked AI what the biggest city on Earth was beginning with A.
Tokyo? Beijing? Beginning with A? I think AI must be using a different alphabet from me.
If anyone's interested, I looked it up myself using AI, and I can confirm that the largest city on Earth beginning with the letter A is actually Delhi, India.
5) Artistic idiot
A few months ago, I was writing a blog post and for one of the items I needed a child's drawing of a parent. Unfortunately, pixabay (which I usually use) didn't have any suitable images, so I decided instead to ask AI.
This is what it came up with for a child's drawing of a parent.
I have to say, that's an extremely talented child! Maybe I should have specified that I wanted the drawing to be by a child who wasn't an artistic prodigy.
I also couldn't help noticing that the 'parent' on the right seems to be extremely young for a parent.
6) Joking idiot
Finally, it's not just puzzles, books, geography, and art that AI is bad at. If this last example is anything to go by, then AI also isn't the greatest when it comes to writing jokes.

AI: "Have you ever tried to eat a clock?"
You: "No."
Sarcastic reader: "Ha, ha! That's hilarious!"
To be fair, it sounds like the kind of joke that a kid would make up.
