1) This is what Phil Foden would look like if he was a cat...
#SeparatedAtBirth |
For the record, Phil Foden is a class footballer who should be a guaranteed starter for England. Nevertheless, I have to admit, his hairstyle does look a bit like he copied it from a Lego figure.
2) The Qatar 2022 World Cup is going to be held in November and December.
Or for Germany, November.
3) In their match against Uruguay, South Korea's goalkeeper and all four defenders were all called Kim!
Who's your favourite player? |
"And it's Kim, to Kim, back to Kim, who passes it to Kim..."
To add to the confusion/simplicity (delete as appropriate), they also had three other players all called Hwang!
4) FIFA 23 is so realistic that when you play with Mbappe the pass button doesn't work!
5) Here's a behind the scenes look at FIFA officials calculating the added time during the Qatar World Cup...
"I'll have a P please, Bob." |
This matches in this World Cup have seen a massive amount of added time compared to usual, and the England vs Iran match had a record breaking 27 minutes of injury time! Surely that would have been tricky for even Carol Vorderman to calculate!
6) Unfortunately, I bought a ticket to World Cup Final without realising it's also my wedding day, so does anyone want to go in my place?
The church is St Mary's, and the bride's name is Joanna.
7) During the Iran vs England match, Iran brought on Harry Maguire's long lost brother as a substitute, Hariq Mahguire...
Hariq Mahguire |
The Iran player's real name is actually Sardar Azmoun, but he does bear a striking resemblance to Harry Maguire.
8) What do you call a FIFA whistleblower?
A referee.
9) Comparing footballers at the World Cup with formula 1 drivers...
The sad thing is, it's not even a joke. That's exactly what many footballers are like.
10) What's the difference between the District of Colombia and the country Colombia?
One of them is famous for its drugs, corruption, and blatant criminal activity. The other lost to England in the 2018 World Cup.

Finally, here's an interesting fact from the Last 16 knockout stage of the World Cup. In all eight knockout matches, the winning team was based on alphabetical order, i.e. the team that went through was the alphabetically first of the two competing teams.
Holland beat USA
Argentina beat Australia
Croatia beat Japan (on penalties)
Brazil beat South Korea
England beat Senegal
France beat Poland
Morocco beat Spain (on penalties)
Portugal beat Switzerland
If that alphabetical trend continues, then Argentina will play England in the final.
