Here are some interesting results from a survey about the World Cup and specifically what men would be willing to do if England made the World Cup final...
1) Football crazy
Wife: "What are you thinking?" Husband: "I'm just wondering what the England score is, er, I mean ... I'm thinking how wonderful it's going to be to spend the rest of our life together!" |
2) Football before friends
16% of men would miss a friend's wedding if it clashed with the World Cup final and England were in the final.
We had a discussion about this at work and several people were shocked that some men would miss their friend's wedding to attend the World Cup final, but I have to say I was shocked because I expected the percentage to be a lot higher than this!
3) Till Death the World Cup final do us part
But it gets worse... 6% of men would miss their own wedding if it clashed with the World Cup final!
Even I'm shocked by this!

4) Man's best friend
5% of men would be willing to sell their pet dog in return for a chance of attending the World Cup final. It's a lower percentage than would miss their own wedding, so presumably men value their pets more than they value their wives!
5) Swapping one holiday for another
14% of men would cancel a holiday for a chance to attend the World Cup final.
Football or your phone? You decide... |
6) Strange priorities
To round things off, 13% of men would give up their smartphone to attend the World Cup final.
I find this one bizarre. If 13% would give up their smartphone, then that means 87% of men value their smartphone more than a chance to attend the World Cup final. Yet 6% would miss their own wedding!?!? Seriously people, it's just a phone!

Sadly, I suspect that all of the above information will be irrelevant because I doubt England will make the final of either the Euros or the next World Cup, but I hope I'm wrong!
