Controversial Christmas questions (part 2)

Christmas will soon be upon us once again, bringing happiness, joy, and also ... controversy. I've featured controversial Christmas questions before on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, but there are many more Christmas related topics that divide opinion.

So with that in mind, have a read of the following controversial Christmas questions, then vote on what you think is the correct answer...

Christmas trees.
A source of joy, happiness, and differing opinions.

1) Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or a plastic Christmas tree?

I've mostly had a plastic tree for Christmas, opting for convenience over tradition. However, if you do go for a real tree, apparently you should check the base of the tree where it's been cut to ensure that the tree is pale. This means the tree has been freshly cut and will last longer.

Now that I've got the advice out of the way, it's time to get down to the important question. Where do you fall on the Christmas tree debate? Do you prefer a real tree or a plastic tree?

2) Should Yorkshire puddings be included with a Christmas dinner?

Yorkshire puddings fresh from the oven.
When it comes to Christmas dinner, turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes, Brussels sprouts and gravy are all established inclusions, but when it comes to Yorkshire puddings, it's not so clear cut.

I'm a big fan of Yorkshire puddings, so they get a massive thumbs up from me. But what will the vote decide? Are Yorkshire puddings a suitable inclusion for Christmas dinner?

Christmas tree lights.

Editor's note: "Charles, your photo is out of focus."
Charles: "Yes, I know. It's supposed to be artistic."
Editor: "By 'artistic' do you mean 'not very good'?"
Charles: "What a cheek!"

3) What lights should you decorate your Christmas tree with?

In my opinion all lights add a touch of festivity to a Christmas tree. However, I've discovered recently that some people have strong opinions one way or the other with regard to what style of lighting should be used to decorate a Christmas tree. Some argue that multi-coloured lights look tacky, whereas others argue that white lights can be dull.

But what will the vote decide? What type of lights look better on a Christmas tree?

A robin singing Christmas tunes.

4) When is it acceptable to start listening to Christmas songs and watching Christmas movies?

Personally, I'm not massively into Christmas songs (bah, humbug!), but there are plenty of Christmas movies that I enjoy (even if the plots can ocasionally tend to be kind of similar). However, I obviously wouldn't watch a Christmas movie in the middle of July!

So when is it acceptable to start watching Christmas movies and listening to festive tunes?

And finally, perhaps the most controversial Christmas question of all...

"What do you think, Bruce?"
"Yippee ki-yay!"

5) Does Die Hard qualify as a Christmas movie?

It's set on Christmas Eve, it features Christmas music and numerous Christmas references, and perhaps most importantly of all it has a happy family ending, but is all that enough for Die Hard to qualify as a Christmas movie?

Sticking with the themes of controversy and Christmas, my Christmas themed story 'Santa And The Naughty Elf' features a mischievous elf who gets up to some very controversial misdeeds indeed!
