Entertainment memes and jokes

My latest book 'Murdertainment' was recently published at Amazon for kindle, and whenever I publish a new book I like to promote it with a light-hearted blog post on the theme of the book.

However, the theme of 'Murdertainment' is a sci-fi story set on a planet where murder is used for entertainment purposes, which I have to admit, isn't particularly light-hearted. So instead, I've decided to have a blog post about entertainment in general, with a look at ten* of the most popular forms of entertainment.

* In no particular order.

1) Sports

You'd have to be very forgetful to forget your own son. However, if you did forget your son, then this is what you might say...

Bonus joke:

What did the naughty sports commentator get for Christmas?

Cccccooooooooooaaaaaaaaaallllllllll!!!!!!!!!!

2) Theme Parks

Wow! Look at how fast this roller coaster was going!

What do English speakers scream when they're on a roller coaster?
Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!

What do Spanish speakers scream when they're on a roller coaster?
Nosotros!!!

3) Music

Have you noticed that if the singer from Foo Fighters shaved, he'd look just like the drummer from Nirvana?

Hmm, yeah ... I can kind of see the resemblance, I suppose. #SeparatedAtBirth

4) Books

What a cool book genre this would be!

I suppose Cowboys and Aliens would kind of fit this genre. One book wouldn't make for a very big section, though.

5) Internet

There are a lot of negatives about the internet, but it does have its benefits too.

Propaganda is when an English person takes a good look at something.*

6) Television

Some people claim that a lot of TV shows nowadays are totally unrealistic, but I don't find that at all...

Did you know that they don't have television in Afghanistan?

It's because of the telly-ban.

7) Comic Books

If you visit this spider farm, take great care not to get bitten...

On a related theme, wasn't it strange how Bruce Banner got his Hulk powers by a nuclear bomb being dropped on him? You would have thought it would incinerated him, rather than turn him into a super hero.

8) Movies

We interrupt this blog post to bring you a spot of advice...

If any movie marketing executives are reading this, when producing promotional materials, always make sure you get your spacing right.

"Steven Seagle is 'Out For Just Ice'."

9) Video Games

If real life was a video game...

10) Theatre

William Shakespeare is perhaps the most famous and influential playwright in English literature, but did you know he also had a less famous brother?

What did Shakespeare call his shower?

McBath.

Once again, my latest book 'Murdertainment' was recently published for kindle.

This is the blurb:

"Teekay Daggex had previously lived a normal life, until the day he was ripped from his world and sold to the interstellar slave trade. He knew the horrific potential fates awaiting victims of human trafficking: back-breaking labor in toxic mines, a slow death on a radioactive planet, his organs harvested and used as spare parts for the highest bidder, or worse – being forced to undergo excruciatingly painful medical experiments.

However, fate – in its cruelest twist – had a different, far more horrifying plan…

Teekay has been sold as a contestant on a televised game show. As you might expect, though, this isn’t your average reality TV. On six notorious planets in the X4 quadrant of the galaxy, murder for entertainment purposes is legal, meaning human lives are the ultimate spectacle, and the only prize is survival.

Now, Teekay is just another pawn in a deadly game, one of eight contestants thrown into a televised arena where entertainment is synonymous with slaughter, and the only way to win is to ensure everyone else loses.

Eight contestants enter. Only one walks away alive. With every rival a potential killer, Teekay must fight not just for his life, but for his soul, in a game designed to break and kill him."
