Question of the day (part 5)

According to the experts, it's bad to ask questions. You should always just blindly accept the advice of the 'experts' ... even when they're repeatedly wrong on every imaginable subject!

'Chatoyant' is a cool word that we should use more often.
It means 'light reflecting off a gemstone', and it's such a mellifluous
word! Actually, that's another word we should use more often!
However, at least half of the following questions should hopefully avoid upsetting the experts, because this week's blog post features another mix of silly and serious questions.

Serious:

1) What is a cool word in the English language which is underused and needs to be used more often?

Silly:

2) Do they have pantomimes in America?

Oh no they don't!

Silly tautologies (part 6)

I'm absolutely certain, one hundred percent sure, without a doubt that a tautology could be described as 'needless repetition'. In fact I used a tautology right there in my opening sentence!

Or if you were more technically minded, you might describe a tautology as a 'repetition of truth', but that's basically the same thing.

New inovations.
Anyway, rather conveniently, tautologies are the subject of this week's blog post.

1) New innovation

New innovations are so much better than old innovations!

To be serious for a brief moment, an innovation is a fresh concept or a new idea, so you can't have an old innovation.

And that leads us into the next tautology...

Question of the day (part 4)

'Question of the day' has been a popular feature over the years on many serious discussion programs and radio shows. These questions can cover serious topics, but they can also be silly!

A donkey reveals the worst advice it ever received.
With that in mind, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features another mix of serious and silly questions of the day designed to stimulate the mind...

Serious:

1) What's the worst advice you ever received?

Silly:

2) If an under 18 year old accidentally broke a bottle of beer at the supermarket, could they make him pay for it? And if so, would the supermarket then get prosecuted?

Random silliness (part 5)

I generally like to be moderately silly on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, but this week I'm going to be even more silly than usual, as it's time for another round-up of random silliness!

To start things off, here's an accurate obseravtion...

1) Baby bunnies look like old kung fu masters.

"Man who catch fly with chopsticks accomplish anything."  Credit: imgur

That reminds me of that song, "Every bunny was kung fu fighting."

Silly trick questions (part 2)

I've mentioned before that I'm a fan of trick questions, so here's another batch to get your brain around.

"Hmm, what could the answers be, I wonder?"
For some of them the answers are fairly obvious, but for others the solutions can be quite tricky. If you get stuck on any though, remember that they are trick questions.

Anyway, have a read of the following trick questions and see how many you can get right.

1) What five letter word does every genius pronounce wrong?

2) What is the least spoken language in the world?

Random silliness (part 4)

I'm generally quite silly on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, but it's been a while since I've been specifically silly. Thankfully, I rectify that this week, as this week's blog post features another batch of random silliness!

1) Here's how to write 'hello' in mandarin.

Credit: @mary_rider

If anyone was hoping for a serious answer, then you're in luck! The serious answer is 'ni hao'.

Personally though, I prefer the silly answer.

Silly protest banners

Protest banners and protest messages can sometimes be controversial and divide opinion. However, they can also be a source of amusement.

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at a few protest banners and messages that brought a smirk to my face.

1) Homeless go home

Strictly speaking, this first example is protest graffiti, rather than a protest banner, but either way it's rather bizarre.

What part of 'homeless' do they not understand?

Question of the day (part 3)

If it's good enough for Alan Partridge, then it's good enough for the Charles Fudgemuffin blog! I'm talking of course about the 'Question of the day' which Alan features on his Mid Morning Matters phone in show.

Another batch of questions designed to get you thinking,
starting with a money themed dilemma.
Alan's questions of the day are designed to be serious, but can often be unintentionally silly. The following questions are deliberately chosen to be a mixture of serious and silly.

Serious:

1) Would you rather win ten thousand pounds or your best friend wins a million pounds?

Silly:

2) Isn't it worrying that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Silly multiple choice quiz (part 2)

Let's starts this week's blog post with a multiple choice question:

Can you tell me what national day it is today?"

A) National Multiple Choice Day
B) National Fudgemuffin Day
C) National Heimlich Maneuver Day
D) No, I can't.

The correct answer was C. However, if you didn't know the answer, then D was also technically correct.

An image created by AI.
However, even though today is National Heimlich Maneuver Day, and even though National Mutiple Choice Day isn't even a real thing, I'm nevertheless feeling in a rebelious mood! So for this week's blog post I've decided to feature another silly multiple choice quiz featuring a selection of random silly questions!

1) Artificial 'intelligence'

First up, take a look at this image pictured to the right which I created using AI. Can you guess what the prompt was that I used to create the image?

A) Hot air balloon floating over the mountains.
B) Beautiful waterfall surrounded by flowers.
C) Colourful scene from nature with flowers in the foreground.
D) Clever idiot.

Silly tautologies (part 5)

Tautologies are just a fancy way of repeating the same thing twice. Which makes them quite a suitable subject for the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, because I often like the repeat the same theme twice (or even five times in some cases) in my blog posts.

This week is no exception, as I feature another round-up of silly tautologies.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any photos of a stupid idiot,
so I had to use this photo of a highly intelligent man instead.

1) Stupid idiot

This is a tautology that me and my friends used quite a lot when we were young. We would often call each other stupid idiots as an insult among friends.

However, it's another obvious tautology. It's safe to say, you don't get many intelligent idiots. Nor do you get many stupid geniuses. I think the fact that an idiot is stupid goes without saying.

So on reflection, what a bunch of stupid idiots we were to call each other stupid idiots!

Random silliness (part 3)

It's that time again. Time to be silly!

There are many things in the world which can be silly. Putty, seasons, sausages, Billys, even misspelled regions of Italy!

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog celebrates all things silly with another selection of random silliness.

1) If you've ever wondered why babies aren't born with teeth, here's why...

Credit: Coffee Creek Studio

Is it just me, or does last baby remind anyone of a baby version of Joey from Friends?

Editor's note: "It's just you, Charles."

Question of the day (part 2)

Curiosity leads to knowledge. That's why asking questions is important. And especially as our governments, the media and 'experts' strive harder to get us to blindly accept everything they tell us, it becomes more and more important to ask questions.

Who? When? Where? How? Why? What?
It's time for another 'question of the day'.
However, although there are many serious questions that should be asked, there's also a time and a place for being silly! This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog presents a mixture of the two with another batch of 'questions of the day', both serious and silly...

Serious:

1) What's the best advice you ever received?

Silly:

2) Would you like to learn how to avoid being scammed?
Just send £10,000 to P.O.Box 45, Newcastle Upon Tyne for further details!

Random football silliness!

The 2022/23 Premier League football season comes to an end this weekend, so it seems an appropriate time to feature a random collection of football related silliness!

1) To start things off, here's a rare photo of The Beatles defending a free kick...

Liverpool have always been tactically ahead of their time!

Five stupid sayings (part 6)

The English language has many cool sayings, but it also has quite a few silly sayings. This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at five more of those stupid sayings.

Donuts may be dumb, but they're also delicious!

1) As dumb as a day old donut

This was a saying that I first heard while watching Prison Break.

The obvious thought that comes to mind is why the need to specify that the donut is a day old? Is a fresh donut any more intelligent than a day old donut?

I'm pretty sure the donut was pretty dumb to begin with, even before it became a day old. If you were to conduct an IQ test on donuts of various ages, I'm pretty sure the relative intelligence levels would come out as equally stupid.

To be fair, I don't think I've heard anyone else say it, so perhaps it's just the character on Prison Break who was as dumb as a day old donut.

Amusingly confused

I'm confused. No ... wait! Maybe I'm not.

In all seriousness, I'm not actualy confused. That was just a silly way to lead into this week's blog post which features examples of people who are amusingly confused.

1) Picture, Picture, On The Wall

To start things off, presumably this first amusingly confused person has never heard of mirrors...

"Why do you have a framed picture of your ceiling fan?"

Silly bus displays

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at buses. Now you're probably thinking, 'Buses? How boring!', and admittedly, buses generally aren't very interesting or amusing.

However, the buses featured this week are! Each of the buses in this week's blog post has been chosen because of its noteworthy display...

1) Bussy McBusface

To start things off, here's an appropriately named bus from Glasgow driven by a bus driver with a sense of humour...

"Bussy McBusface"

Random silliness (part 2)

If the world is getting you stressed right now, then here's my suggested antidote ... random silliness!

1) To start things off, here's a very silly, but also totally brilliant pacifier/dummy* for any parent who wants to know what their baby would look like if they had a moustache...

* Delete as appropriate depending on whether you're American or English.

Moustache pacifier/dummy.

He just needs a top hat and a monocle to complete the look.

Silly tautologies (part 4)

As I'm sure every knows, the dictionary defines a tautology as 'needless repetition of an idea or description, or an instance of unnecessary recurrence'.

From time to time on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, I like to draw attention to silly tautologies, so as it's been a while since my last round-up of silly tautologies, this week's blog post features another selection of unnecessary repetitions!
"Bah! A belated warning!
If only it had been an advance warning!"

1) Advance warning

An 'advance' warning? I think it's fair to say that all warnings are given in advance! You don't warn someone after the event has already occurred!

Imagine the weather forecast saying, "I'm warning you now, take an umbrella when you go out yesterday, because it rained yesterday."

Question of the day

It's time to focus on the question of the day ... with a mix of serious and silly questions. This week's question themes include inventions, prunes and Harry Potter.

Editor's note: "Charles, that's the wrong type of 'prune'!
Charles: "Yes, I know, but it's the closest photo I had, so it'll have to do."
Serious:

1) If you could remove one thing from the world, what would it be?

Silly:

2) If prunes are dried plums, then where does prune juice come from?

Silly pie charts (part 2)

For statisticians, pie charts are a useful tool for presenting data in an easy to understand format. However, an even better use for pie charts is for making daft jokes on the internet!

With that in mind, this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog features another collection of silly pie charts.

1) Yoda

This first pie chart owes its inspiration to the wisdom of Yoda.

"Your choices, as per Yoda."

"Do or do not, there is no try."
