Silly protest banners

Protest banners and protest messages can sometimes be controversial and divide opinion. However, they can also be a source of amusement.

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at a few protest banners and messages that brought a smirk to my face.

1) Homeless go home

Strictly speaking, this first example is protest graffiti, rather than a protest banner, but either way it's rather bizarre.

What part of 'homeless' do they not understand?

2) The last straw

Sometimes draconian government overreach can push us to our very limits.

When they do, we often respond like this man...

"This is the last straw."

3) Freedom

Whoever wrote this next protest message is obviously a very patient man.

"Freedom 2202"

"What do we want!?"
"Freedom!"
"When do we want it!?"
"In 178 years!"

Editor's note: "Charles, I don't think they actually want freedom in 178 years. I think they probably want it immediately, but they just made a mistake with the date."
Charles: "Yes, I know, but that's not as funny."
Editor: "Oh, right. Okay, yes, I get it now."

4) Unity

Unity is a common theme of many protests. However, this next protest sign decided to go a different way...

"Bad spellers untie!"

Editor: "Charles, I don't think they did go a different way. I think they probably meant to write 'unite' but they misspelled it."
Charles: "Yes, that's because they're bad spellers. That's the joke."
Editor: "Oh, right! Yes, I get it now."

5) Censored

This next protestor felt so strongly that they resorted to swearing, so I took the liberty of censoring it.

Editor: "Actually Charles, swearing only affects around one in ten people with Tourette's."
Charles: "Yes, I know, but there wasn't room to include the other nine clean protest signs."

6) Baby protest

Finally, protests can be controversial and divide opinion, but to end things on a lighter note, here's a protest banner that I think we can all agree with.

I can read baby scribble, so here's a translation of the sign:

"Free toys for toddlers!"

"I want chocolate!"

"Longer nap times for babies!"
