Random Star Wars thoughts (part 3)

It's become something of a tradition on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog to mark each Star Wars Day (May 4th) with a Star Wars themed blog post, and this year is no different.

This week's Star Wars themed blog post features another random selection of miscellaneous Star Wars themed thoughts.

1) Under the Icelandic naming system, Luke Skywalker would have been called Luke Vaderson.

Presumably, Darth Vader would have been called Darth Midi-chloriansson.

Obi-wan: "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."

Obi-Wan just accused Yoda of being a Sith!

Star Wars pants game quiz (part 3)

"These aren't the pants you're looking for."

so I'm hoping no-one will remember."

A silly game which I like to play from time to time is the Star Wars Pants Game. For the benefit of anyone who doesn't know what that is, you simply take a Star Wars quote and replace one random word with the word 'pants'. People then have to guess what the original quote was.

To test out your Star Wars knowledge, have a read of the following pants themed quotes, then see if you can work out what the real quote is.

Star Wars jokes (part 4)

As Star Wars fans will know, May the 4th is officially Star Wars Day* so as I often like to do at this time of year, in honour of Star Wars Day this week's blog post takes inspiration from Star Wars with another collection of Star Wars themed jokes.

Silly pie charts (part 2)

For statisticians, pie charts are a useful tool for presenting data in an easy to understand format. However, an even better use for pie charts is for making daft jokes on the internet!

We're only a few days away from Star Wars Day (or May The Fourth Be With You Day, as it's also known), so that means it's time for another Star Wars themed blog post.

Star Wars pants game quiz (part 2)

One of my previous blog posts which gets quite a few page views is the Star Wars Pants Game quiz. To recap, the Star Wars Pants Game is a quiz where you switch one word from a famous Star Wars quote with the word 'pants' and people have to guess the original quote.

1) Star Wars Avatar

The Star Wars Avatar website lets you create your own Star Wars avatar to use as your profile photo on facebook, twitter or other social media sites.

You can choose from various species such as human, Twi-lek or Rodian (Greedo's species), and then customize your avatar with various weapons, clothes and backgrounds.

To the right, you can see my own avatar based on Darth Maul which I've named Darth Fudgemuffin.

This coming Friday is Star Wars Day (May 4th), so in honour of Star Wars Day here are a few random Star Wars thoughts:

1) In the light saber battle at the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader cuts off Luke's right hand.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Luke, because he would still be able to type Star Wars on a keyboard! That's because all of the letters in 'Star Wars' are on the left hand side of the keyboard!


2) Why don’t jedis use the force to press the button and turn off their opponent’s lightsabers?


3) Luke Skywalker would have looked like a right idiot if he had missed his shot on the Death Star after he turned off his targeting computer.

Unusual methods of counting

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at various unusual methods of counting from around the world...

1) The remote South American tribes method of counting

Doctor: "Take some tablets some times a day."
Patient: "For how long?"
Doctor: "For some weeks."
Numbers are important when it comes to medicine.

I mention in one of my books that some remote South American tribes only have number words for one and two! If you go any higher than that then you just say 'some'.

So for example, if you had five beans and wanted to count them you would say, "One, two, some, some, some."

The good thing about this very laidback method of counting is that whether you're a billionaire, or you only have five pounds, you both have the same amount of money ... some!

This week's blog post features secret sith, expensive light sabres and yodelling jedi masters.

That's because it's the official Star Wars Day next week (May 4th), so in honour of George Lucas the out of touch writers at Disney, here's another selection of Star Wars jokes...

1) Why is Han Solo the only one who can understand Chewbacca?
Because that's the way the wookie mumbles.


2) After the first read through of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Mark Hamill pulled JJ Abrams to one side and said, "Can I have a word?"

10 cool internet Easter eggs (part 6)

It's that time of year once again when I take a look at a selection of Easter eggs and hidden features found on various websites around the internet...

1) Hidden Dinosaur Game in Google Chrome

Google have included a hidden Dinosaur game in Google Chrome.

Google have definitely got a sense of fun because they've created a lot of hidden internet Easter eggs over the years.  It should come as little surprise then to learn that they've also included a hidden Easter egg in Google Chrome.

If you attempt to access a webpage while offline you'll receive the message, "Google Chrome can't display the webpage because your computer isn't connected to the internet," and this message will be accompanied by a stick figure dinosaur.  If you then press 'space' a game will commence where you control the dinosaur and have to jump over cacti and other obstacles to aim for the hightest score possible.

If you use Google Chrome then give it a try, but read the rest of this blog post first, as you need to be offline for the game to work!

This week saw the release of an exciting new trailer for the forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and advance ticket sales for the new movie were already breaking records within a day of going on sale. However, despite the massive success of the Star Wars movies, at one stage it looked as if the original film might not even get made. Incredibly, some movie studios actually turned Star Wars down, but they can console themselves with the fact that they're not the first people, and they won't be the last, to make a big mistake in the spotlight.

Here's a round-up of some notable mistakes over the years...

1) A long time ago...

When George Lucas first conceived the idea of a Star Wars movie, not all movie studios shared his enthusiasm for the project, and the movie was rejected by Universal and United Artists due to budgetary concerns.

Thankfully, Alan Ladd at 20th Century Fox believed in George Lucas, if not the actual movie, and Star Wars went on to become one of the biggest movie success stories of all time.

One amusingly daft Star Wars game which I find entertaining is the Star Wars Pants Game, whereby you substitute one word from a Star Wars quote with the word 'pants'.

As today is officially Star Wars Day I thought it would be an appropriate time to round up a few Star Wars jokes. Most of these are really old so apologies in advance if you have to dust off the cobwebs...

1) Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are out for a meal at a Chinese restaurant. Ben notices that Luke is struggling to use his chopsticks, so after a while he finally says, "Use the forks, Luke."
