Spelling is important

The English language is a difficult language to learn. It can be understood though through tough thorough thought!

With sentences like that, its no wonder that some people sometimes make spelling mistakes!

This week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog takes a look at a selection of amusing spelling mistakes.

1) Coughing for sale

The sheer bizarreness of this first example made me laugh.

"6.2 feet coughing for sale due to wrong diagnosis."

On the bright side, this was one occasion when I'm sure the patient was glad of a wrong diagnosis.

Doctor: "I'm terribly sorry. I'm afraid I made an incorrect diagnosis. You're going to live."
Patient:  "Drat! So I've wasted my money on that coughing?"
Doctor: "You mean you paid someone to cough?"

2) Defiantly on purpose

I get so angry when I see spelling mistakes on the internet.

I feel like people are defiantly doing it on purpose just to annoy me!

3) Taken for granite

It's terrible when men treat women like igneous rocks.

"You take me for granite and one day I'm not going to put up with it anymore."

4) Misspelled milk

My nephew was upset because he lost a spelling bee on the word 'dairy'.

I told him there's no point crying over misspelled milk.

5) Pictures of stairs

Here's an example when the person replying misread* a correctly spelled word.

* Presumably deliberately for comedy purposes.

6) Emergency at Divisadero Pine Street

Operator: "911, what is your emergency?"
Man: "A pedestrian just got hit by a car! He needs an ambulance."
Operator: "Okay, what is the location?"
Man: "We're on Divisadero Street."
Operator: "Can you spell that for me?"
Man: (Long silent pause.)
Operator: "Hello? Are you still there?"
Man: "Hold on. I'm just going to drag him to Pine Street. I'll call you right back."

7) No smoking aloud

There's nothing more annoying than noisy smokers!

8) Wizards and spelling bees

What's the difference between a wizard and a spelling bee contestant?

One conjures spells, the other spells conjure.

9) Taking things to seriously
