When tweets go wrong (part 3)

From time to time, the Charles Fudgemfuffin likes to take a look at occasions when ill-thought out tweets have back-fired. Here are a few more of those occasions...

1) CNN refer to women as 'individuals with a cervix'

Providing further proof that the world, and specifically the media, is going mad just to placate a few loonies, CNN tweeted about a report on cervical cancer screening aimed at 'individuals with a cervix'.

Or 'women', to use the terminology preferred by non-insane people.

CNN struggle to grasp reality.

Unsurprisingly, this led to well deserved mockery of CNN, and it also inspired the #IndividualWithACervixSongs hashtag. Here are some of my favourites...

"You’re once, twice, three times an individual with a cervix." 🎵

"Pretty individual with a cervix, walking down the street.
Pretty individual with a cervix, the kind I like to meet."

"I'm every individual with a cervix. It's all in me..."

"Who runs the world? Individuals with a cervix." 🎵

"No individual with a cervix, no cry."

And finally, here's one from Urethra Franklin...

"'Cause you make me feel...
You make me feel...
You make me feel like a natural individual with a cervix." 🎵

2) Stephen King takes a stand

The author of this next angry reply might perhaps have been advised to check who wrote The Stand before he posted his response to this tweet from Stephen King...

The following comment summed it up perfectly...

"This is the most accurate representation of all of social media that I've ever seen in a single exchange."

3) The BBC: War is peace

Finally, after the London protests in which 27 police officers were injured by violent rioters, the BBC unironically tweeted:

"27 police officers injured during largely peaceful anti-racism protests in London."

27 police officers injured in a peaceful protest!? You may think this was a parody account, but no! The BBC actually tweeted this!

27 police officers injured in 'peaceful' protest.

As you can imagine, there were quite a few replies mocking the propagandists at the BBC...

"27 sausages eaten in largely vegan breakfast."

"Death Star destroys Alderaan in largely peaceful demonstration of the Empire's power."

"705 passengers arrive in New York after largely successful maiden voyage of the Titanic."

"27 bottles of vodka drunk in largely teetotal gathering."

"Liverpool win only 32 league games in largely unsuccessful 2019/20 Premier League campaign."

To round things off, the award for the best response of all goes to the creator of this photoshopped image picturing how today's BBC would report on the Tianneman Square massacre...

The BBC: "War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength."

My short story 'For The Greater Good' features a brutal dictator that even the propagandists at the BBC would struggle to portray in a positive light. Although they'd no doubt have a good try.
