April Fools Day pranks (2021 edition)

Devious deception for the purposes of spreading misery and evil are definitely bad, and should always be frowned upon.

However, good natured pranks which the recipient finds amusing are a nice way to bring more smiles into the world. Here are a few pranks from this year's April Fool's Day...

1) Mashed Potato flavour ice cream

Mash Direct started the day by announcing an exciting new mashed potato flavour ice cream! Perhaps even more disgusting was their carrot and parsnip flavoured ice cream, and to complete the disgustingness they also revealed their new gravy topping! Gravy on ice cream? I don't think that's going to catch on.

It all sounds absolutely minging, but thankfully it wasn't real, and it was purely an April Fools Day prank.

Mashed potato flavoured ice cream ... mmm!

Get it while it's warm!

2) McDonalds Three Fries Portion

If you've got a mate who never buys their own meal and instead always scrounges some of yours, then this latest announcement from McDonalds may be of interest. It's the new 'three fries portion', ideal for anyone with a mate who 'just wants a few'.

I have to admit I'm not a great fan of McDonalds nowadays, so if they could produce a 'no fries' portion, then that would be ideal for me.

3) TubbyCoin

In perhaps the most surprising move of all, Teletubbies revealed that they are launching their own cryptocurrency, the appropriately named ... TubbyCoin!

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Ripple, and Monero.

The announcement was made on the official Teletubbies twitter account, and ended with the popular cryptocurrency phrase, "Let's take it to the moon!" which leads me to suspect that whoever runs the Teletubbies twitter account is a secret fan of cryptocurrency.

This seems like an appropriate moment to squeeze
in a plug for my short story, 'Burn The Witch',
available for kindle from Amazon.

4) Rapid witch test

The Dungeons is a scary attraction that will soon be reopening, so to ensure all their visitors remain safe, they have developed a new test with fast results.

It's the Rapid Witch Test which every visitor will have to take before entering to prove they're not a witch.

“We just want to ensure we know who is coming into our attractions, and whether we have bad witches in our midst,” explained Catherine Pritchard, General Manager at The London Dungeon.

I'm sure the Rapid Witch tests will be just as accurate as the 30+ cycle PCR tests which corrupt / incompetent* governments around the world were using until the similarly corrupt WHO finally admitted that using over 30 cycles produced false results.

* Delete as appropriate.

5) Pringles introduces new lip balm range

Pringles announced that they're introducing a new range of lip balms based on their Pringles flavours, including the delicious Salt & Vinegar lip balm, and the mouth-watering Sour Cream & Onion lip balm.

Of all the April Fools' Day pranks featured in this round-up, this is the one which would actually be an interesting idea if it was real. Sadly, however, it was just another April Fools Day prank.

6) Friday the 13th

Google got in on the April Fools' Day action with this silly search result for anyone wondering when when the next Friday the 13th is...

As a naturally suspicious person, I have my doubts as to whether this is correct.

Friday the 13th on a Tuesday? Hmm, something doesn't sound right.

7) A new rival for Google...

Fudgemuffin.
Finally, I also indulged in a bit of April Fools' Day tomfoolery of my own when I announced the launch of an exciting new project ... the Fudgemuffin search engine!

Click the following link to give it a try:
www.fudgemuffin.com

Except it's not real, obviously. I just used the eglogo.com website to create a fake Fudgemuffin search engine. The eglogo.com website allows anyone to create their own personalised search engine, and it uses Google to carry out the actual search.

You can read about some of the other weirdly named search engines I created, including flippetyfloppity.com, splurgedyfloopbloop.com and a catchily named search engine named after the Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, in last week's blog post:
The Fudgemuffin search engine
