1) Grateful funeral home
To start things off, here's a clever advert from a funeral home...
"Thank you for smoking." |
On second thoughts, actually it's not that clever after all, because Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes are effectively tring to discourage new customers! Or at least postpone them.
2) Wise Advice
Here's some sound advice from Brooke Shields...
"Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life.”
~Brooke Shields
3) R.I.P.
This was tweeted on January 5th, 2020...
"Guess who finally quit smoking today?" |
#TheDateIsImportant
4) Light-Hearted Advice
Here's another piece of advice on giving up, this time from Mark Twain...
"Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times."
~Mark Twain
5) Old Before Your Time
A brand of nicotine patches produced the following amusing advert featuring a smoker celebrating her 42nd birthday...
"Smoking causes premature ageing." |
6) A Cost Effective Approach To Smoking
The following quote is from Yes, Prime Minister, and it features Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey discussing the fincancial cost of smoking...
Jim Hacker: "It says here, smoking related diseases cost the National Health Service £165 million a year."
Sir Humphrey Appleby: "Yes, but it has been shown that if those extra 100,000 people had lived to a ripe old age, it would have cost us even more in pensions and social security than it did in medical treatment. So financially speaking, it's unquestionably better that they continue to die at their present rate."
I'm not saying all politicians are callous, but I can't help but think of the expression, 'Many a true word spoken in jest'.
7) Priorities
Here's a photo from China taken when the corona virus had just began, which made me chuckle...
Stay safe! Wear a mask while smoking! |
"I should be safe. The statistics say nothing about praying mantises dying from smoking." |
8) Powerful Statistic
On a final note, if you want to give up smoking but find it hard, take motivation from the following statistic:
"Did you know that over 300 people in the UK stop smoking every day?
By dying."
