True or false: Weird national days (part 2)

I've featured Weird National Days before on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, and as I often like to recycle ideas, here's another batch of weird and wacky national days.

However, once again, to test your wits I've also included a few random made-up days. See if you can guess which of the following are real national days, and which are nothing more than figments of my imagination...

Soup.
Ideal for swapping.

1) Jan 20th - National Soup Swap Day

A day when you swap soup with your friends and colleagues!

Why do we need a special day for this? I would have thought surely most people swap soup with their friends and colleagues every day?

2) Mar 5th - National Learn What Your Name Means Day

According to what-does-my-name-mean.org, my own name, Charles, means, "A cool, awesome, funny, smart, nice, and strong guy" or "A fair and sincere man", both of which I can confirm are totally accurate!

3) Apr 1st - National Fun At Work Day

As well as being April Fools' Day, April 1st is also National Fun At Work Day.

If you're an accountant or librarian, then you don't really need to celebrate this day, because of course every day at work is a fun day for accountants and librarians! But for everyone else who aren't fortunate to have such a fun job, National Fun At Work Day is a day dedicated to having fun at work.*

* N.B. Please be sure to obtain the permission of your manager before having fun at work, as not all workplaces approve of fun at work.

"This is dangerous! You'll get us killed!"
"It's okay, we're only stormtroopers.
We're expendable. We're not integral to the plot."

4) May 4th - Star Wars Day

Fans of Star Wars will be familiar with the phrase 'May the force be with you'. Star Wars Day is a play on that saying, i.e. May the fourth be with you, so logically Star Wars Day is held on May 4th.

If one day isn't enough, and you want to continue celebrating Star Wars, then some Star Wars fans have labelled May 5th as Revenge of the Fifth, a twist on the movie Revenge Of The Sith.

5) May 29th - National Put A Pillow On Your Fridge Day

Whoever invented this national day must be a very peculiar individual, but if there is anyone reading this that has the urge to put a pillow on your fridge, then May 29th is a day dedicated to just that.

"Say arr."
"Raaarrrggghhh!!!"
"No, arr."

6) Jul 19th - National Stick Your Tongue Out Day

In most cultures, sticking your tongue out is considered rude or silly. However, in Tibet sticking your tongue out is a polite form of greeting. So if you visit Tibet and someone sticks their tongue out at you, don't be offended. They're actually being polite!

In the rest of the world though, sticking your tongue out at someone is generally considered rude, so if you do decide to celebrate National Stick Your Tongue Out Day, then be sure to explain to whoever you stick your tongue out at that your tongue gesture is celebratory, rather than insultory.

7) Aug 24th - Pluto Demoted Day

On August 24th, 2006, Pluto was officially demoted from a planet to a dwarf-planet, so to ensure Pluto's memory would live on for future generations, August 24th has been designated as Pluto Demoted Day.

Pluto's demotion has had many consequences on our everyday lives, most notably playing a part in the naming of my latest short story, 'Ranieri and the Eight Planets'.

8) Dec 14th - National Monkey Day

This is the thieving monkey that stole my biscuits.
As you can see, to add insult to injury, he stuck his tongue out at me!
Unless perhaps he was celebrating National Stick Your Tongue Out Day...
Oo, oo, oo! Ee, ee, ee! Oo, oo, oo, oo!

Monkeys may look cute and cuddly, but in real life they're generally sneaky little thieves, as you can see by this photo of a sneaky little thieving monkey who nicked my biscuits when I was in Borneo. I literally put them down for about two seconds, and that was all the time this sneaky monkey needed to pilfer them, before then quickly running up a tree!

So while some people may wish to celebrate this day to pay tribute to monkeys, I would rather use the day to raise awareness of how sneaky and devious thieving little monkeys can be.

Which of the above National Days are real, and which are made up? Scroll down the page to find out...

"I warned you this would happen."
In actual fact all of the national days listed above are real. Well, by that I mean I didn't make them up. Someone else made them up, not me.

If you've got any ideas for any other crazy national days, then feel free to leave a comment with your suggestion.
