Things that unintentionally made me laugh (part 4)

I have a weird sense of humour, so from time to time on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, I like to highlight things that weren't meant to be funny, but which nevertheless appealed to my weird sense of humour.

Here are a few more things that unintentionally made me laugh...

1) Realistic Dinosaurs

First up, here's a video on YouTube which features dinosaur sounds. What made me laugh, was that it asks you to listen to the dinosaur sounds, and then rate how realistic they sound!

"Wow! That triceratops roar sounded just like the triceratops I heard in the park this morning."

Unless there are some extremely old people using YouTube, then I suspect rating dinosaur sounds for realism may prove a little tricky.

2) Strawberry payments for six weeks

Next up, I've highlighted a Strawberry Grow Kit which was for sale on Wilko. Admittedly, there's nothing particularly funny about strawberries, but I did find the payment options somewhat amusing...

"£2. Pay in 6 weekly payments."

The Strawberry Grow Kit costs a mere £2, and yet Wilko give you the option to pay by '6 weekly payments'! Seriously, how bad must your finances be if you can't afford to pay for a £2 product all in one go!?

Customer: "Hmm, this Strawberry Grow Kit looks appealing. Oh, but it costs £2. Sigh. That's out of my price range."
Wilko: "No problem! You can spread the paymemts over six weeks!"
Customer: "Wow! That's great! Sign me up!"

3) Disproportionate enthusiasm

It's always good to have an enthusiastic attitude towards life, but I have to admit, when I recently won 3 pence on SkyBet's daily free scratchcard, I think their level of enthusiasm was slightly disproportionate to the value of the prize.

"Congratulations! You've won £0.03!"

I can report that, as yet, I haven't quite decided what to do with this life-changing sum of money.

4) Short And Sweet

A few months back, one of my short stories, How To Poison Your Husband And Get Away With It, got to number 46 in the Kindle Short Stories charts.

That wasn't what made me unintentionally laugh, though. What made me laugh was the 'short story' at number 48 in the Short Stories charts...

War And Peace: Complete And Unabridged.
A short read with only 822 pages.

War And Peace, a great choice for a short read if you've got a quick ten minutes weeks to spare.

5) Hitting the jackpot!

Most of the examples so far have been harmless amusement, but I have to confess that there's a slight touch of 'malicious glee' to this next unintentional laughter.

292 winners.
I havent included them all due to space constraints,
so you'll just have to take my word for it. However,
due to my exceptional integrity, you can be sure
that all details quoted are totally accurate.
To set the scene, imagine entering a free daily online competition where you can win up to £50,000. To win, you have to correctly predict the winners of seven horse races.

Now imagine how excited you would be if you successfully predicted the seven winners! You'd be thinking, "Yes! Fifty thousand pounds is mine!"

However, if more than one person correctly predicts the seven winners then the prize is shared, and back on 12th August 2020 - much to my amusement - there were 292 people who all correctly guessed the seven winners! To add insult to injury, the prize was 'only' £1,000 that day, so by the time the prize was shared out, each of the 292 winners received only £3.42 each!

Imagine predicting the seven winners and thinking you've won £50,000, or at the very least £1,000, only to discover that you've actually only won £3.42!

I'm sure they all saw the funny side. **shifty eyes**

6) Everything you ever wanted to know about scarves

Finally, to bring my unintentional amusement to an end, here's an amusing course on offer from Northamptonshire County Council...

Discover How To Wear Scarves Effectively.

Apologies to any professional scarf wearers, but do you really need a course to teach people how to wear a scarf?

I have to admit, I've been wearing scarves for most of my life, and yet I've never been on a course to teach me how to do it, so I presume I must just have a natural talent for scarf wearing!

I'm very easily amused, so I'll most likely feature another blog post in future describing my unintentional amusement at things that weren't supposed to be funny. In the mean time, you can check out other examples of unintentional laughter in my previous blog posts:
