Liars caught in the act

Today is National Liar Day. Actually, no, it's not. I just made that up. It was a total lie! National Liars Day isn't until March 1st apparently, although personally I don't see why we need a day to highlight liars.

Anyway, that was an example of a liar caught in the act, and this week the Charles Fudgemuffin blog highlights several more such examples.

1) Supermarket liar

To start things off, here's a claim of 'nothing artificial' which I can't help feeling somewhat suspicious about.

"Nothing artifical."
"Imitation crab."

Real 100% authentic imitation crab! It sounds like something Del Boy would sell.

Seems legit

From time to time on the Charles Fudgemuffin blog, I like to give random advice, and one such example of this was my blog post on how to spot fake goods in Thailand.

This week I give you another chance to put your knowledge of fake goods to the test, as I take a look at various items and examples which, despite claims of being legit, definitely seem a little bit dubious...

1) PlayStation 5

To start things off, here's a PS5 for sale which definitely looks genuine...

PS2 + PS3 = PS5

On a related note, I got home the other day to find my girlfriend had left a note on my PS5 saying, "This isn't working."

Imagine my relief when I turned it on and it was working just fine!

How to spot fake goods in Thailand

Spoiler alert: This week's blog post features fake bags, fake socks, and even fake shops!

As well as writing, one of my other favourite hobbies is travelling, especially to the tropical islands of Thailand, where you can find some incredible bargains in the street markets, with designer t-shirts, sportswear and other goods available for bargain prices which seem almost too good to be true.

And of course that's because they are too good to be true. If it seems too cheap to be genuine, then that's generally because it is. However, even without the tell tale sign of a cheap price, there are a few giveaway signs which can help you spot whether an item is fake or genuine, and I've highlighted a few examples below...

1) Open from 7am in the morning until...

As you can see from this first photo, sometimes it's not just items of clothing which are faked. Sometimes it's the entire shop!

7 Elephant. Open from 7 am in the morning until elephant pm at night.

At first glance everything appears to be perfectly above board with this 7-11 logo, but on closer inspection you may notice a very subtle mistake that the copyright infringer made when copying the 7-11 shop logo.
