Fruit and veg

If anyone reading this is looking for a new hobby, then I would definitely recommend growing your own food. It's really satisfying when you see your seeds turn into seedlings, and then full grown plants, and then finally when you get to eat the food that's the best part!

Anyway, to encourage readers to get into growing their own food, this week's blog post takes a lighthearted look at fruit and veg.

Let's start things off with a healthy observation...

1) I never realized that eating salad was so funny.

"Ha, ha, lettuce. You're so funny."

2) If a tomato is technically a fruit, does that mean that tomato ketchup is technically a smoothie?

3) Here's what a garden looks like when a nurse takes up gardening...

Patient: "Does an apple a day really keep the doctor away?"
Nurse: "Yes, if you aim it right."

4) My neighbor said the only fruit or vegetable that could make him cry was an onion.

So I threw a coconut at him.

5) Here's a photo to help all those who can't tell the difference between parsley and cilantro.

To help you identify them, the parsley is next to the cilantro.

Editor's note: "Charles, parsley and cilantro aren't fruits or vegetables. They're herbs."
Charles: "Shush! Hopefully no-one will notice."

6) What vegetable can be delivered by a postman?

Lettuce.

7) Next, here's an accurate observation that I found on twitter:

"Asparagus grows like it's trying to prank some gullible idiot into thinking this is how asparagus grows."

And here's the proof:

I bought ten asparagus at the supermarket, but when I got home I discovered that I had eleven.

It was just a spare, I guess.

8) Charles: "Hey, Ed, did you know there's a fruit that provides your entire daily potassium requirement?"
Editor: "That's bananas."
Charles: "I know! I thought it was crazy too!"

9) Finally, let's round things off with a piece of wise advice...

Eat like your life depends on it, because it does!

Bonus item: As a final thought, if organic farming is the natural way, shouldn't organic fruit and veg just be called 'fruit and veg' and make the pesticide-laden chemical-ridden stuff have the burden of an adjective?
