A simple test to determine your ideal career

At the start of every new year, it's traditional to make new year's resolutions, such as getting fit, or finding a new job.

So for the benefit of anyone who is sick of their current job, and who is considering a change of profession, here's a simple test to determine your ideal career.

Follow the instructions below to find out the job that you'd be perfect for:

What is your ideal career?
Find out with this simple test.
* Pick a number between 1 and 9.
* Multiply by 3.
* Add 3 to that number.
* Multiply by 3 again.
* Add the two digits together.

The number you are left with corresponds with your ideal job...

1) Scientist.
2) Super model.
3) Astronaut.
4) Footballer.
5) Doctor.
6) Formula 1 driver.
7) Pilot.
8) Pop star.
9) Village idiot.
10) Writer.

What ideal job did you get?

Was it number 9? The village idiot?

Of course, as you may have guessed, it's a fix! No matter what number you originally pick, you will always end up with the number 9 as your final answer, i.e. village idiot.

You can't even beat the test by picking fractional or decimal numbers. When you arrive at the final stage, and add all the digits together, you will still end up with 9 as your answer.

For example, if you pick 3.5, you will end up with 40.5. If you add these digits together (4 + 0 + 5) you get 9.

No matter what you pick you will end up as the village idiot! It's a trap!

For the benefit of anyone wishing to recreate the trick, you may wish to substitute 'village idiot' for similarly embarrassing professions, such as BBC journalist, politician or Hollywood actor/actress.

  1. Ironically, if you get an answer other than 9, it means you quite possibly are the village idiot, as you obviously can't do sums!
