A collection of random topical information at this romantic time of year.
Romantic trivia for Valentine's Day |
1) The best way to describe yourself
According to a survey by the eHarmony dating website, if you're a dude and you want to be successful in love then the best words to use to describe yourself are, 'ambitious', 'physically fit' and rather surprisingly 'perceptive'? I never would have guessed that women look at a man and think, "Phwoar! He looks perceptive!" but apparently according to this survey that's what they do.
If you're a woman and you want to be successful in love then the best words to describe yourself are 'thoughtful', 'sweet' and again 'ambitious'. These are all admirable qualities, but I was surprised that according to the survey apparently men aren't as shallow as I would have guessed. I have to admit that I've never heard a dude ever comment, "Phwoar! She looks thoughtful!" but apparently according to this survey that's the way men think.
Other words which are statistically proven to attract more romantic interest include, 'spontaneous', 'hard working' and 'funny'.
2) Roses are red
Roses. Available in a variety of colours. |
"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Daffodils are yellow,
And it should also be noted that roses aren't exclusively red. They can also be pink, yellow, white, orange and even lavendar."
Apologies if anyone was expecting a romantically inspired poem for Valentine's Day. It was just a horticulturally inspired poem based on gardening facts.
3) Advice on how to discover if your boyfriend is serious
This next one is a test that my mate's girlfriend used on him, so if a girl wants to know if a dude is serious about her, then here's one way to tell...
Buy your boyfriend a rubbish CD and if he pretends that he likes it, then that's a very good sign that he's serious about the relationship. However, just to clarify things, if your boyfriend is honest and admits that the CD is rubbish, then that doesn't necessarily mean he's not serious. He might just be serious but also tactlessly honest. Anyway, if he pretends the CD is decent when really any fool can tell that it's rubbish, then that's a pretty positive sign that he's dedicated to his girlfriend.
However, for the record, I definitely don't support sneaky relationship tests, so if any dudettes are reading this, I definitely wouldn't recommend deliberately buying your boyfriend a rubbish CD. You could buy him a fairly decent CD though, and if he reacts as if it's excellent, rather than just quite good, then that would also be a positive sign.
4) The drawbacks of being single
Finally, if anyone single is reading this and they feel a bit left out on Valentine's Day then this is a cool quote which was originally tweeted by Chris Young on twitter:
"Being single is terrible if you hate being able to do whatever you want all the time."
Wise words there from Chris Young, and his quote perfectly sums up the illogical nature of hormones.
