Pinterest - The Social Network For Photos And Images

Like, Pin And Repin

A cute pug as featured on my Pinterest board dedicated to pugs.
For the benefit of anyone who hasn't discovered Pinterest yet, I thought I would write a short post briefly covering what it's all about.

Basically, Pinterest is an online photo pinboard which allows you to 'pin' interesting images you come across as you surf the net onto themed boards.  Other users can then follow your boards and the images you pin will show up in their photo stream.

For example my boards include Books By Indie Authors, Pugs (example photo shown), Cartoons, Funny, Wisdom, NUFC, Star Wars, iPhone / iPod Wallpapers and Books I Have Recently Read. Other Pinterest users could therefore decide to follow all my boards or just the boards that appeal to them.

Book Reviews (Part 1)

A few reviews of various books...

A few years ago pretty much the only books I used to read were comedy novels, but nowadays I've expanded my book-reading tastes slightly.  Anyway, here are a few brief opinions on the books I’ve recently been reading:

John Grisham is one of my favourite authors and while I perhaps wouldn’t have The Client right at the top of my John Grisham recommended list, it still had me hooked.  I like the way he will occasionally make valid critical observations of the American justice system through his stories and I especially like the way that he doesn’t compromise his stories to do this.  In fact in some cases the flaws in the American justice system are what allow him to make his plots so compelling, and this is particularly true with The Client.  Overall, if you’re a fan of John Grisham or legal based thrillers, then this is well worth a read.

How To Save The World: An Alien Comedy
by Charles Fudgemuffin

‘Aliens from the planet Fem have decided that as compassionate citizens of the galaxy they have a duty to alleviate suffering and affliction from the rest of the galaxy.

In the majority of cases this will involve sharing their unprecedented prosperity and quality of life with those planets less fortunate than themselves. Of course, in a minority of extreme cases this will also involve eliminating life from those planets in the galaxy where the level of suffering is simply too great to alleviate.

Unfortunately for Earth, the Femlings have deemed us one such planet...’
